Observed annually on January 24th is compliment day—a day specifically set aside to pay attention, acknowledge something nice about someone, and to then share your sincere observations with that person. What an easy way to brighten someone’s day and spread joy!
Since it would be near impossible to sincerely share a compliment with each and every one of you, we thought we’d put our own Close To My Heart spin on things and celebrate this holiday by sharing our Complements instead! We can think of no better way to do this than by showing you how easy it is to use them and by giving some away to our loyal blog readers!
For those of you new to the lingo, Complements are stickers and die-cuts designed to complement, or complete, our creative collections. Each of our collections features a coordinating paper packet and other embellishments, like sequins, gems, and trims, all following the same color scheme and design esthetic. This makes it easy for you to find coordinating products for any given papercrafting project.
With the launch of our newest catalog, Seasonal Expressions 1, we have four new creative collections for you to pick from. Take a look at how we made use of each collection’s complements in the artwork below. Then, decide which one is your favorite for a chance to win it, FREE!

While they are all lovely, I do like the Chelsea Gardens compliments the most, mainly for their beautiful soft blue & green colours and family related sentiments!
Stargazer…I lean toward bright primary colors! Can be patriotic…and American girl of the year is an Astronaut!

My favorite is Chelsea Gardens because the complements are so versatile! With the soft blues and greens and greys, they could be used on so many different layouts. And I love the gardening theme because it makes me think of spring and that winter is almost over!

This is probably the biggest challenge for me yet, picking my favorite compliment set out of the 4. I love them all and their possibilities are endless. But…Gimmie Some Sugar would then have to be my favorite for its own unique versatility. They remind me of baking cookies at grammas house, they remind me of a Dolly Parton song, they remind me of a high school friend we ALL called Peaches! I think I love them the most for all the memories they spark in my heart. I will for sure be grabbing an extra set of these for a bullet journal page to record those memories!!!
I like Stargazer! My son has started using a telescope with is son to look at the stars and moon at night. He also has inspired one of his nephews to also look at the stars. He took his dad and me to the the Furman University Observatory to look at the night sky during Christmas. I have some awesome pictures of the moon that I need to scrapbook soon.
Chelsea Gardens is my pick, theses colors are very versatile and I just love that butterfly and watercolor look… When picking out a complement to purchase I always look at words etc to see how many I would actually use… and this one is very family oriented and for me very usable.

Chelsea Gardens catches my eye and heart with its pastel colors and theme of spring and newness. Family is important to me as well as friends (who I consider my second family); I can see myself using the big words for scrapbook layouts and many of the others with card making. I’m so waiting for the season of spring. Seeing these compliments wants me to begin some cards to have on hand for when that time comes. Perfect for Easter. I adorable Chelsea Gardens…I run an in-home daycare and we’ve had our own butterflies that we learned all about…then we had a celebration as they went off into the world. The children loved it and now I want to scrapbook the photos.

It’s hard to pick this season. I especially like all the papers. But I love the Gimme Some Sugar. It reminds me of why I started to scrapbook in the first place. I was making recipe gift books as wedding shower gifts.

My favorite is the “Gimme Some Sugar” compliments. I love everything about this set and about kitchen, recipes, baking! Those also go so perfectly with the Cut Above Kitchen Traditional Bundle which I’m over the moon for!
I love them all! But if I had to choose just one I think I would say the “Give Me Some Sugar” pack. I love the color suite, the flowers and kitchen themed images and of course the southern phrase “Y’ALL!”

Gimme Some Sugar – I’m planning to do a Recipe Kit and these complements would be perfect with that.
My favorite set is Chelsea Gardens. I love everything about this set. Butterflies and flowers in beauiful color palette.
My favourite is the Make Waves.
My daughter is going through a stage where she loves mermaids and I would love the make waves complements to create her Album.
I love them all!! They all appeal to me for different reasons. Make Waves because of the blue/grew hues and oh so pretty graphics. Chelsea Gardens because my daughter in law loves mermaids, Stargazer because I’m crazy of rocket ships & robots, don’t ask me why I really don’t know – must have something to do w/growin up in the 60’s and the Jetson’s & other space age cartoons of the time. My fav would have to be Gimme Some Sugar because my husband is from the Midwest and always says “Bless Your Heart”, plus my last name is Peach so anything w/peaches is fab in my book! 🙂
1500!! Wow’ didnt know this until i read this post. I didnt know that there were compliments either, always thought that they were called embellishments. My favorite would be waves of course or anything CTMH of course as all the lines seem to compliment each other in some way shape or form. Thanks for sharing
