Postcard Perfect: Pocket Scrapbooking and Giveaway!

Can you believe that we’re already halfway through National Scrapbooking Month? With just a couple of weeks left to get our Postcard Perfect paper collection, created especially in celebration of this time of year, we wanted to give you some inspo for pocket scrapbooking using these beautiful papers.

There are so many things going on in this layout to point out. First off, take a close look at the pocket cards. Each one is made using one of the designs from the cut-out page included in the Postcard Perfect paper packet.

This sheet comes with a variety of scenic inspired images on one side for you to cut out and use as embellishments in any of your scrapbooking or cardmaking projects. They can ALSO be used to create your own pocket cards, like we did here, as layout titles, card fronts, and anywhere you want to add a splash of tropical flair.

Did you notice the pearls on our layout?

When scrapbooking with pockets, it’s easy to opt out of using embellishments that have dimension in fear that they will make the Memory Protectors™ bulge and somehow compromise the aesthetic of our designs. An easy fix—attach the embellishment to the outside!

There’s another element of this pocket layout that you probably didn’t notice at first glance: Flip Flaps™!

We just cannot get enough of these awesome pockets! Exclusive to Close To My Heart, Flip Flaps are extra pockets that you can attach to any layout, pocket scrapbooking or not, to incorporate additional photos or journaling. They are a fun, interactive way, to make room for your whole story.

Our most cherished memories, regardless if we’re surrounded by palm trees, truly are Postcard Perfect, even if it’s just to us.

The last thing we want to point out are the pictures that were used in this Postcard Perfect layout. They are of children having a blast splashing around and playing in a pool, not a sandy beach. These could’ve been taken at a pool party in someone’s backyard or even the local community pool. Your scenic getaway is whatever you make of it.

As we celebrate the second half of National Scrapbooking month don’t forget about pocket scrapbooking. This collection has so much potential beyond classic layouts. Take it to the crafty level and make all your stories Postcard Perfect!

To help you do just that, we are having another giveaway! (Woo-hoo!) 1. I’ve done a little bit of pocket scrapbooking and I like it a lot because I take tons of pictures and it’s so hard to choose which ones to use! I love flip flaps as well because it’s like finding little surprises throughout your scrapbook.

  2. I haven’t tried pocket scrapbooking yet but looking at some examples it looks like a very fun and creative way to display family fun times. My kids would love to help design their own pages

  3. I am excited to try pockets but am intimidated. Your layout looks easy to replicate. Thanks!

  4. Pocket pages are perfect for “catch up” scrapping.
Flip Flaps are wonderful for added interest & also practical… ever finish a layout only to find a forgotten photo that needs to be added?!

  5. I have done a few pocket pages, I usually use them to add more pictures to a traditional scrapbook layout.

  6. I absolutely LOVE Flip Flaps!!! I used them on a layout that had WAY too many pictures for a two-pager, but thanks to Flips Flaps, it worked beautifully! They are ingenious! Thank you so much for the chance to win a “Postcard Perfect” pack; it looks AMAZING!!!

  7. Love pocket scrapbooking! I especially love how you can double the amount of photos in a layout using the pockets too!

  8. I have not yet tried any pocket scrapbooking but this collection is the first that has made me think of actually trying it. I guess I thought that putting papers and photos in pockets wasn’t really scrapbooking but with the display you have shown you have caused me to think otherwise.

  9. I prefer traditional scrapbooking but I use pocket scrapbook when I am trying to get a project done quickly. I always love the end result. Thanks for the chance to win this kit. I would love to scrapbook my vacation using it!

  10. I use pocket scrapbooking all the time mostly in between my layouts for the other extra photos that go with that layout but that I just don’t have the room for. I always take too many photos and love them all! Sometimes the pocket pages are my last page in an album for the odds and ends of photos for that year especially with the kids’ photos. Use them up in order and shows how much they have grown in a year!

  11. I love using pocket pages! In my kids’ school scrapbook they follow a layout for each school year. I use them for family trips with lots of photos. And I love the ones that hold 4 or 6 photos to add in between a layout.

  12. I have some pocket scrapbook supplies and sometimes feel overwhelmed on where to start. Your examples are helpful in how to use photos and the pocket kits to transition from traditional scrapbooking. I thought it was either or but I really can do both in the same album.

  13. I use the pockets when I have too many pics to choose from for one layout. Rather than making 2 layouts of pretty much the same thing, I add pockets and layer the pictures on. I can move through my scrapbooking faster without sacrificing the quality and detail that I put into each 2 page layout.

  14. Pocket scrapbooking is a great way to incorporate the many “extra” pics I take at events like Birthday parties, weddings, Christmas etc. I like to create a double page layout and put a pocket page in between with the many extra photos.
I hadn’t thought of making my own pocket scrapbooking cards from Postcard Perfect – thank you to the very creative minds in the Art department who thought of that!
