Summer Crush campaign

There are so many ways to fall madly in love with these crush-worthy books, but we wanted to share just a peek at another way to love them—a peek inside the books, that is. When you open any one of the wonderful books offered, you will soon see that the papers contained inside the covers are so beautifully designed, they may just jump right out of the covers and onto your scrapbook pages.

The page below features an entire page ripped from the My Crush® Modville book that was then sewn directly onto the page base for a trendy edge. Try it out for yourself! Add some stamping from the free My Acrylix® Reel Life stamp set, some journaling squares, additional stitching, and some Aqua Dots and you’ve got the ingredients for success!

For a more streamlined look, try trimming blocks of paper from the pages you adore from your My Crush® Bluebird book and attaching them to your page base. Then pull a title and other shapes—like the banners and flower—from the assortment. Add some Oceanside sequins and stamping from the My Acrylix® Love This stamp set, like the pretty little butterfly, and you’re set with some swoon-worthy springtime art!

What to Do for Father’s Day?

Hurray for Father’s Day! That special guy you owe so much to gets his time in the limelight in just two weeks, and you want to make the day special. Here are a few pieces of inspiration to help spark some ideas of how to do just that.

First, the classic card. Don’t underestimate your power to please with a little bit of paper! With the help of the Cricut® Artfully Sent cartridge, you’ve got loads of manly card options at your fingertips. Achieve a rustic look with the help of Jackson Background & Texture (B&T) papers or the cards from the Picture My Life™ Jackson scrapbooking program.

Father's Day gifts

If you have a little something extra to give dad, many of the cards on the Artfully Sent cartridge are designed to hold gift cards. All you need to do is slip a gift card for his favorite hardware store inside and watch his eyes twinkle.

Another idea is to wrap his favorite treat in a box cut from the Cricut® Artiste cartridge and let his grandkids make the special delivery. The packaging will be cute, but not quite as cute as the scene of grandpa hugs, kisses, and inescapable tickling that will surely follow.

For those of you not feeling that Cricut® projects are the right fit for your special guy, try a handy My Crush® For Him book instead. You can fill up each page with love and memories meant just for him.

Big or small, your handmade gifts for dad will make him smile. Have fun putting your heart into something he’ll love!

Extravaganza Is Back

Convention is coming! Convention is coming!

One of everyone’s favorite things about Convention is having the chance to see the newest products in an up-close and personal setting. Nowhere does this happen like it does at Extravaganza.

At this fast and furious (but super fun) session, everyone gets to see almost every new product used in artwork created by Consultants. These Consultant artists take 20 minutes to teach ideas and techniques they used to create their mini museums of amazing artwork, filling attendees’ heads with an incredible amount of ideas for what to do with all that is new in the annual idea book. It is one of the BEST parts of Convention!

At last year’s Extravaganza in Anaheim, some very talented artists showed off their work. Though the products featured here have been around for several months now, the ideas are so fresh, they’ll have you seeing things in a brand new light. Enjoy this little sampling of the awesomeness we saw then, and get excited for the awesomeness we’re going to see again in just a few weeks!

Tresa Black created these incredible projects with the pages from My Crush® books, both on and off the page.

Sara Batkin took the Base & Bling line by storm by introducing this array of beautiful goodies—some for wearing, others for sharing.

Michelle Snyder reminded us of the joy of not only keeping memories, but also of making them with her collection of clever party creations.

Exciting? Most definitely! Convention is an event just for Consultants, so sign up to be one yourself! Then YOU will be among the first to see this level of gorgeous artwork and gather inspiring ideas when you attend Convention this year.

Not quite sure what to expect at your first Convention? Here’s a look at the fun and creativity that takes place.

Can’t wait to see you there!

My Crush™ book artwork

My Crush™ book artwork

If you’re having trouble placing the paper packet these fabulous papers come from, it’s because they don’t come from a paper packet at all: they come straight from the new My Crush® For Him and For Her books.

Are you already imagining what crafty things you can build with these beauties? We hope so, because Jeanette’s next creative challenge is for you to do just that! This is the official announcement, so pay attention: your challenge is to create artwork using the papers you tear from one or both of the My Crush For Her and For Him books.

We know it’s a few days early, but no one ever complained about a little extra time to make a masterpiece, did they? The deadline is midnight on May 31, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with—so hop to it! The winner will receive TWO My Crush For Her books with which to make even more great artwork.

You still have the full seven days to finish Jeanette’s current challenge, and the winner will still be announced on Facebook on Monday, May 25. We’re just so excited to see the artwork you make with the papers from these books that the overlap seemed excusable. The challenge is on!

To get you pumped for this unique challenge, we’re also giving away 20 For Her books to 10 winners with this post. That means 10 lucky souls will get two books apiece with which to make the finest layouts and cards out there. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment below telling us about your favorite way to use the For Him and For Her books: as mini books, on cards, or on scrapbook pages. We’ll announce the winners of the giveaway on Tuesday, right here on the blog.

Best of luck to you, crafters!

A Mini Taste of Summer

And so National Scrapbooking Month continues! We’re back again with another celebratory project made with the Taste of Summer paper packet and stamp set: a refreshing Taste of Summer mini album.

Taste of Summer mini album

Mini albums are great for compiling your memories from specific events or time periods in a beautiful standalone book, which friends and family can then look through as it sits on your coffee table to get a taste of what you experienced.

Because you control the page count and the binding, you have the flexibility to add as many pages as you wish. You decide how much time you put into a single page; you can highly embellish, or, if you prefer, keep the additions to a minimum. Every page ends up unique, and each retains a piece of the memory that you want to portray.

Use the Taste of Summer papers and stamps to create one of your own to capture your day on the lake, your trip to the mountains, or your picnic at the park.

If you’re feeling a little dry on ideas, let us splash a few your way:

• Using the Cricut® Artbooking cartridge, cut pages of all sizes and with varied borders. Mini albums are one of the projects this cartridge was specifically designed to cut, so you’re sure to find everything you need.
• Get spunky with your binding. We chose Thistle extra thick twine to bring out the pretty purples in our papers.

Taste of Summer mini album

• Arrange blocks of papers, photos, and stamps in symmetrical patterns to harness the power of excellent design.
• Write short and sweet captions for your photos, but leave room for longer journaling entries as well.
• Create embellishments with the already adorable paper. Here we’ve dovetailed strips of paper and layered them to make a juicy cluster.

Taste of Summer mini album

• Layer images from the stamp set using 3-D foam tape.
• Give your handwritten memories the limelight! Layer blocks of paper and cardstock and fill them up with journaling.
• Use mini staples for your mini album—it’s like they were made for each other!

Taste of Summer mini album

• Get creative with your inking. The strawberries on this page were stamped in several colors to achieve a look that’s almost good enough to eat.
• Stamp directly onto your photos to capitalize on space—and give them fun captions!

Taste of Summer mini album

• Use journaling strips to allow the gorgeous Taste of Summer papers to peek through.
• Layer stamped sentiments on top of stamped images in complementary colors.

Taste of Summer mini album

• Add embellishments for dimensional pops of color. Here we’ve used purple glitter gems to coordinate with the colors of the papers.

Taste of Summer mini album

• Stamp images to create designs on solid-color cardstock. In this case, the stamped vines are more of an attraction than the paper!
• Place journaling strips vertically for a new look.

Your mini Taste of Summer project is sure to have a big impact. Remember to grab your paper packet and stamp set before the month’s end!

Sticky Boy Speaks: Why Convention?

Sticky Boy here. I’ve come out of hiding today to personally invite you to the party you’ve been waiting for all year. You know, that beloved event when the world revolves around me: Convention!

I try to stay out of the spotlight because I don’t like making such a big deal of myself, but the way people fawn over me you’d think I was the only reason they came to Convention. So, I know I’m a pretty big deal, and I don’t blame them for wanting to hang out with me, but there are some other perks to attending Convention.

Let me name a few reasons why I love it so much.

I’ll start with one that’s very obvious: seeing my creator and friend Jeanette Lynton on stage is always inspiring for me. Her gifted hands crafted my perfect, round self, and I always enjoy seeing her smile beaming from the stage.

Next to seeing my favorite CEO, seeing the newest idea book, and seeing it FIRST, is definitely one of the highlights of my Convention experience every year. I obviously flip straight to the new stamp sets first and foremost, but maybe that’s just me.

To really nail down what I love most about Convention, you’ll have to experience firsthand the excitement that runs through the veins of every Consultant in attendance. The energy they feel for this company is contagious, even for little ol’ polymer me, and I’m pretty sure I don’t even have veins.

But excitement isn’t the only feeling you’ll experience at Convention. I may or may not have gotten a bit misty-eyed last year when I saw the lovely Dana Swadling receiving her surprise Spirit of Close To My Heart award—but who didn’t shed a few tears when they saw that? I love seeing hard-working people getting the recognition they deserve!

Okay, enough with the emotion. It’s time to talk business.

I’d be a liar if I said that my favorite part of Convention isn’t the thrill of the hunt—because it is! Oh, how I love the suspense and anticipation of watching so many of you walk right on by as I practically beg you to see me. Ba ha ha! My clever hiding places are just too good.

Sticky Boy hides

I admit that, after putting up some resistance, I do actually like to be found. If you never found me, how would you know how clever my hiding places are?

After you’ve found me (and bragged about me using #stickyboyctmh), your hospitality is always astounding. I love tagging along with you everywhere you go. On top of that, joining you at home broadens my worldview and gives me what my friends would call “culture” (which I’m happy to experience, as long as that “culture” doesn’t include being clamped between your dog’s teeth).

Folks, life doesn’t get much better than Close To My Heart Convention. If you haven’t signed up yet, you’d better hurry yourself on over to the Registration page to get started. You could be one of the lucky few to take me home this year, and that alone makes the trip worth it, right? I mean, come on. Just look at me!

Okay, that’s enough for now. I’ll see you there (even if you don’t see me, heh heh)!

Happy Mother’s Day!

crabapple-2 (1)

“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.”
—Cardinal Mermillod

To mothers all over the world, we send our deep and heartfelt gratitude. Thank you, dear mothers, for raising the firefighters, ballerinas, and scientists of tomorrow. Today is your day to take a step back and recognize all the goodness that has come from your sacrifices. May you enjoy the view!
