We’re at it again! Last week we shared a fun way to dress up a girl’s room using beautiful large paper flowers, and, as promised, today we’ve got some inspiration on how to use papercrafting to decorate a more boyish space. (It can be done!)

The Urban paper collection is one of our absolute all-time favorites. We love it so much, in fact, that we brought it back for a second time around! Whether you missed it when it made its debut, or you love the designs just as much as we do, now is your chance to stock up!

We paired these classic Urban patterns with a few of our other go-to products and came up with some really fun, trendy, and even purposeful, décor pieces. Take a closer look.

Our chipboard frames and monograms are a great way to showcase personality in any given space. The patterns found in the Urban papers and stickers provide just the right amount of warmth, edge, and attitude to do just that!

We backed this third frame with some cork board to effortlessly add or move photos, notes, and other mementos around. With a little bit of personal thought and inspiration, you could easily turn one of these framed pieces into a vision board!

With our Annual Convention drawing closer, we thought it’d be fun to share with you some amazing places to visit while you’re in Salt Lake City with us (you’ll want to take lots of photos!).

1. Family History Library

The incredible collection of records at the Salt Lake City Family History Library include over 2.4 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records; 727,000 microfiche; 356,000 books, serials, and other formats; over 4,500 periodicals and 3,725 electronic resources. These records span the globe, coming from the United States, Canada, the British Isles, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. If you want to learn more about your family heritage or if you’re already an avid heritage scrapbooker, this is a great place to visit!

2. Temple Square & Visitors’ Center

If you choose to visit the beautiful gardens and incredible architecture at Temple Square, take some time to check out the Visitors’ Center. It’s a great place to learn more about the area’s history and see beautiful original paintings. Plus, Temple Square is just about a block away from the Salt Palace where Convention will be taking place!

3. The McCune Mansion

Completed by the renowned architect S. C. Dallas, the McCune Mansion was finished in 1901 at the price of $1,000,000. It features beautiful furnishings and materials from around the world, and some even say it features a few ghosts! If you want to take a look inside the world of the elite in the early 1900s, make sure to schedule a tour to see inside this amazing mansion.

4. The Beehive House

Brigham Young was a Mormon prophet and leading founder of Salt Lake City, and the Beehive House is the older of his two Salt Lake City residences—and it is just two blocks away from the Salt Palace Convention center. Built in 1854, it stands today as a museum and offers tours of what life was like for the Young family back in 1855. If you’re all about free, you’ll love the free tours of this historic home, which take place Monday–Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. beginning every 10 minutes.

5. The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art

The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art is a five-time recipient of funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation and a 2015 and 2016 recipient of the Art Works Grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts. It’s also located right next door to the Salt Palace!

6. The Roof Restaurant

If you’re looking to experience some of the finest dining in Salt Lake, then The Roof Restaurant is the place for you! It’s located on the 10th floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which means you get to enjoy breathtaking views of Temple Square and Downtown Salt Lake City while dining.

7. The Olympic Cauldron

This is the torch that burned bright during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. It’s located at the south end of Rice-Eccles Stadium on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. If you drive past it, you’ll definitely want to snap a picture of this 72 ft. tall work of art. You can even head to nearby Park City to experience some fun rides in the Olympic Park.

8. Red Butte Garden

Red Butte Garden, located on 100 acres in the foothills on the eastern edge of the University of Utah, is an official arboretum of the state of Utah. The garden is the largest botanical garden in the Intermountain West with over 21 acres of developed gardens and five miles of hiking trails winding through an extensive natural area. You’ll be taking tons of photos if you visit here!

9. Eagle Gate

You might pass right under this monument on your way to Convention! It was built in 1859 and commemorates the entrance to Brigham Young’s property at the mouth of City Creek Canyon. It was originally topped by a wooden eagle, which was eventually replaced by the current 4,000-pound, bronze eagle, with a wingspan of 20 feet. Carved by Ralph Ramsay, the original wooden eagle is on display at the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum located at 300 North Main Street.

This year our annual Close To My Heart Convention is at the heart of where Close To My Heart really got rolling—right here in Utah! Here are some reasons why having Convention in Salt Lake City this year is going to be awesome!

1. You Get to Return to Where It All Began

This is where Close To My Heart really got its foundation—and it’s Jeanette Lynton’s home! Coming to Salt Lake means you’ll get to return to the place where Close To My Heart planted its roots. For us it feels like having the family all home again!

2. You’ll Get to Tour the Home Office

This year’s lucky Convention attendees will get to tour the Close To My Heart Home Office where all the magic happens! It’s sure to be an extra special moment you will remember forever!

3. You’ll Get to See Some Pretty Amazing Mountains

In addition to seeing some of the world’s most beautiful mountains right from your hotel room, you can also take some time and visit our mountains! They are incredible! Hike (or walk, really, because they’re super easy “hikes”) to Silver Lake or Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The drive into the canyon alone is absolutely gorgeous, too. Though it may feel like you’re worlds away amid the scenic beauty, you’ll only be minutes from your downtown hotel room.

4. Park City Is Nearby!

Feeling a little more adventurous? Then schedule a trip to Park City before or after Convention! They have mountain biking, zip lines, hot air balloons—basically the possibilities for outdoor fun are limitless! You can also visit the Utah Olympic Park where the 2002 Winter Games were hosted. If you’re more of the “relax and chill” type, attend one of the free weekly outdoor concerts, or enjoy the exciting nightlife with your Team!

5. There’s Lots to Explore Downtown

If you don’t want to drive, stay downtown and visit Liberty Park. There’s an aviary, several restaurants, ponds, and lots of greenery. You can also visit City Creek Center: an indoor mall with a ceiling that retracts when the weather is nice! Whether you’re there to shop or not, it’s an enjoyable place to walk around with its many fountains and a creek running through it.

Temple Square is another huge attraction that you cannot miss! Located right in the middle of downtown, it features breathtaking historic buildings and meticulously-kept grounds. Make sure to also visit the LDS Conference Center, where you can receive a tour and go to the beautifully-landscaped rooftop. There are several free visitor centers and museums scattered throughout Temple Square—including the Family History Library with the largest genealogical collection in the world where you can learn more about some of the city’s heritage—or about your own!

5 Ways to Use Instalife™ City Limits

Instalife™ is our mini pocket scrapbooking line: From mini albums and Memory Protectors™ to mini cards you slide into place next to your photos, these petite products are just too cute!

Today we’re going to show you five different ways you can use our Instalife™ City Limits cards, which are only available through April 30.

1. Traditional Mini Album

You can see that the cards have fun designs and cutouts, along with spaces for journaling. Simply slide your photos and cards in, and you’re done! The album possibilities are endless: Create one for graduation, one with photos of your family for your kids to take to college, or one with photos of your pet. It’s also a great way to keep all the photos you have on your phone. Just print them out, and create a mini album of your adventures!

2. Mother’s Day Gift

Because the cards are soft blues, greens, and greys, it’s easy to add other colors into the mix! Here we added some Pixie cardstock and ink to make this a feminine album for Mother’s Day. The card sentiments are generic, so they work great for any occasion.

3. Father’s Day Cards

Once Mother’s Day is over, use the cards to create unique Father’s Day cards. On the left card, we have two 2″ x 2″ Instalife™ cards stacked on top of each other. On the card on the right, we used a 4″ x 4″ Instalife™ card with a cutout and stamped a sentiment inside of it.

4. Everyday Life™ Album

What’s great about the Instalife™ cards is that they’re small enough to use as accents for your My Crush® pages. You can attach them quickly and easily, and they even go really well with the colors of the My Crush® Everyday Life pages.

5. Traditional Scrapbooking

The cards also work great on traditional scrapbook pages. These 4″ x 4″ cards act as frames for the photos, and the little 2″ x 2″ card makes a fun embellishment when combined with some ribbon.
