A FREE Scrapbook Pattern for the Storybooks!

We are paying homage to all the princes and princesses, to the dragons and unicorns, and to anyone who truly loves a good fantastical adventure, with a FREE downloadable scrapbook pattern for a two-page 12″ x 12″ layout!

Some of you may remember this pattern from its original debut with our Sangria collection many years ago. In the downloadable file below, you will find that the instructions have been revamped so that they can be used with any papers and for any occasion! Our patterns are truly timeless, and paired with your choice of papers, embellishments, and a little creativity you can make your very own scrapbook layout fit for any of your once-upon-a-times or happily-ever-afters!

The Storybook collection is a great fit for this pattern—especially the coloring page type paper design. Using this paper for the bottom half of each page in this layout gave us ample opportunity to color our favorite elements of this fun and fantastical paper design. It makes an excellent base layer for these adorable photos telling the story of this little princess’s big day.

But we didn’t stop there! Today we’re taken upon ourselves what feels like a magical quest of sorts by offering you two completed layout examples using our Storybook paper collection.

Like all of our patterned papers, the Storybook papers are double sided, with a unique design on each side. What is particularly special about this set of patterned papers, is that one side is geared more toward fairytales that involve magic mirrors, glass slippers, and unicorns, while the opposite is for the adventures that entail swords, goblets, and dragons. In this second example, you can see that we’ve used the other side of the coloring page paper, which gave us different accents to color. This paper is such a fun way to customize the artwork to any occasion!

Like any good papercrafting adventure, this Storybook paper collection is helped along its journey with coordinating products, including stickers, black paperboard die-cuts, and two-toned cardstock—and we used them all in creating our two layouts!

If you find that your stories require different color choices than what we’ve provided in the papers or stickers—perhaps you’d rather have a purple dragon or a white castle—several of the designs from our papers and sticker sheet also appear in our stamps. You can stamp your own dragon or castle (and a few other icons) and color them as you see fit with the Storybook—Scrapbooking and Storybook—Cardmaking stamp sets! This collection allows for you to tell your story exactly how you want it!

The outlined shapes shown in these two stamp sets show you what you can cut with our metal dies if you purchase the stamp sets with their coordinating Thin Cuts. When working with Thin Cuts, you can layer stamped accents over other page elements effortlessly—no fussy cutting is required!

Tips for the jeweler:

  • To create both a support and a cover-all for the behind-the-scenes work of your crown, trace the outer edges of the tiara you cut from the Artiste cartridge onto Confetti Wishes B&T paper, trim, and adhere behind the original. Use Shimmer Trim to fill in select negative spaces if desired. Trace a second crown shape to place on the back of the entire centerpiece once you’ve finished.
  • After you pleat each of the yo-yos, adhere them to a small square of cardstock to make it easier to attach them to the base.
  • To create a headband for the centerpiece, cut two 1 ½” tall strips at a length that will fit the head of your royal guest of honor. Attach them to the centerpiece and adhere the ends together when it’s time to fit the crown.
  • To create the fashionably distressed embossed swirls, use a sponge dauber to get just the right silvery look.
  • You can make your sparkles match whatever color scheme you end up using! Just use ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ markers to color the sparkles.
  • Use both thin and regular 3-D foam tape to create differing dimensions on your crown.

Tips for the jeweler:

  • Download this free crown pattern. Trace it onto the birthday hat cut from the Cricut® Artiste cartridge and then cut the crown shape from the birthday hat to create a crown bedazzled with star shapes. Back with your choice of B&T paper.
  • Trace your main crown shape again, this time onto B&T paper. Set it aside and save it for the end of your project, when you will attach it to the back of the entire centerpiece to cover all of the behind-the-scenes work of your crown.
  • To create a headband for the centerpiece, cut two 1 ½” tall strips at a length that will fit the head of your royal king or queen. Attach the strips to the centerpiece and adhere the ends together when it’s time to fit the crown.
  • After you cut the overlay from the Cricut® Artbooking cartridge, use the negative chevron strips to blast the planets and other space paraphernalia into outer space. Or should we say outer crown? 😉
  • Wondering how to get those out-of-this-world waves that you see on Saturn? The magic comes from the Jumping Geometrics stamp set (D1637). Use a sponge dauber on the ring to create an embossed, star-dusted gleam.
  • Use both thin and regular 3-D foam tape to create differing dimensions on your crown.

We hope your little ones enjoy being royalty for a day! Be sure to give them an extra dramatic bow of honor, just from us.
