Watch Parties to Remember

There’s no better way to enjoy your favorite TV shows than by throwing a watch party with your family and friends! It might be a Super Bowl party, a girl’s night to watch the Oscars, or a get-together for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. Whatever you’re getting together to watch, the point is you are getting together, having fun, and making memories—which you should definitely include in your memory keeping!

Sometimes our watch parties become a family tradition, like the one featured in this layout. Include photos of the people that were there, but don’t forget to also add shots of the snacks, decorations, and any other happenings that mark the event. The sights, sounds, and tastes are all part of the experience and make those memories special. These pages use our All-Star Complements with Basics Fundamental and the Stargazer paper packets, creating a simple layout highlighting a family Super Bowl party worth remembering.

Sometimes, watch parties include activities before or after the actual watching. These may seem like everyday events to you, but in the long run these moments are what life is all about. The little every day things we do that make us, and celebrate, who we are. In the page above, we share some inspiration for the upcoming winter games. Stargazer Dots and All-Star Complements pair perfectly for whatever team you’ll be rooting for during the next few weeks.

As you prepare to throw your own watch parties, check out this video, where our very own Jill Broadbent shares theme party ideas for tomorrow’s Opening Ceremonies. Complete with décor, food, and crafts, all you need to do is take a quick trip to the grocery store and get out your favorite Close To My Heart paper and cardstock.

Preserving what matters most includes the traditions we create with friends and family. With the Oscars in a few short weeks and a royal wedding in May, there are plenty of memory making watch party opportunities heading our way!

How do you celebrate these, and other, TV milestones? Share with us, in the comments below!

From Monica: Starting 2016 on a High Note

Reflecting on the incredible Team Builders event we held last week, I just have to say that I feel so blessed to be part of this amazing company. This is how I feel after every event, and I want to express my gratitude to the wonderful group of leaders that took time out of their busy schedules to join us on a snowy weekend in Salt Lake City so we could learn and grow together. Any day I can spend with these friends, many of whom I have known for over twenty years, is precious to me.

Needless to say, our schedule was jam-packed with top-notch business presentations from Close To My Heart employees and Consultants alike. The days flew by in a steady stream of great ideas, one after another.

We also had plenty of creative time together, too. Here’s one of the beautiful projects that we worked on:TB164

Art Studio Manager Gina Crotts came to me with this project as a recommendation. “Meraki” is a Greek word that means “to do something with soul, creativity, or love; to put something of yourself into your work.” That word felt like a great way to describe what our Consultants—especially these leaders—do, both in their businesses and in their artwork.

TB161

It was a unique type of creative project for us: We just showed a few examples, set out the supplies, and gave our attendees complete freedom to create their own page. It was so awesome to see what they all came up with!

The highlight for me, and I think for everyone, was Saturday afternoon—and no, I’m not talking about those unbelievably delicious waffles from Waffle Love!—I’m talking about when Jeanette surprised us with a visit. After sharing a few words with us, she spent the better part of an hour answering questions, cracking jokes, and sharing her insights and vision for the future of Close To My Heart. It was a wonderful and memorable afternoon for all of us!

TB163

At the end of the event, we all said our goodbyes and returned back to our homes and our normal lives, armed with new perspective, new resolve, and new ideas for the future. I left feeling optimistic and hopeful, and I saw these same feelings reflected on the faces of my friends, who have shown such determination and loyalty in building up their own Close To My Heart businesses over the years. I am looking forward to the rest of 2016, because I know that with such incredible people involved in this work, we’ve got a great year ahead of us.

Love,

Monica

From Jeanette: A Case of the Convention Butterflies

It’s that time again. The time of year when Convention is so close I get butterflies! Everyone at Close To My Heart has been fluttering around the office preparing for our favorite event of the year. Whether it’s ordering t-shirts, designing posters, shooting videos, crafting Base & Bling necklaces, or writing awards scripts, it seems that every person in the building is busy creating to make this Convention the best one yet.

We snapped a few candid photos to give you a sneak peek of what’s been going on around these parts. Don’t worry; we didn’t reveal anything major; we are saving up the secrets to all our Convention surprises—big and small—until we are with you at the Disneyland® Hotel.

Logo Items

Logo items, anyone? If you ordered some, they’ll be arriving in your arms shortly!

This year I’m especially looking forward to the meet and greet opportunities of Convention. I feel so privileged to get to spend some time chatting with the contest winners about life, business, and all things paper and ink. I wonder who they will be!

Final Preparations

The Events team is hard at work putting together the final pieces needed to throw the greatest party of the year.

Being surrounded by your positive energy and enthusiasm is another reason why I look forward to attending Convention. When I see your lovely faces beaming up at me while I’m on stage, it makes me incredibly happy. I hope you realize you are the reason I do what I do.

Designer

Our artists and designers are hard at work putting the finishing touches on all things Convention.

But the meet and greet contest is only the beginning. Convention is always a never-ending flow of prizes, awards, and freebies that rain down in some way or another upon all in attendance, and this year they will be bigger than ever! Flights to the Brisbane Convention, free incentive trips, Instax cameras, and loads of new products—it’s Christmas in July! 🙂

Boxes

We’ve got loads of empty boxes just waiting to be packed with goodies to be shipped off to Anaheim in only a few short days.

And, of course, how could I not mention Disneyland itself? Basking in the California sunshine at the “happiest place on earth” is a guaranteed recipe for fun. Because this will be our last year celebrating Convention at Disneyland, things will feel a little bittersweet.

Here's a look behind the scenes at one of our recent video shoots.

Here’s a look behind the scenes of one of our recent video shoots.

I’ll miss this wondrous sunny paradise, but I’m excited to experience the adventures the new locales will bring in the years to come. Next year we’ll be back at the beautiful Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, but for now, I’ll soak Up 😉 every minute of Anaheim I can get.

Awards

The awards are about to be etched with the names of this year’s winners! So exciting!

If you haven’t already registered to attend Convention, know that today is the last day to do so! We would love for you to join us at the greatest party of the year. You can register here. If you’ve already registered, I’ll see you next month at Make It From Your Heart Convention 2015!

Sticky Boy's countdown chain

Of course, Sticky Boy has his own countdown for the big event. 29 days left!

We’re counting down the days. ❤
