3 Ideas for Scrapbook Cover Pages

Every scrapbook album needs a front cover page and a back cover page…but sometimes it’s hard to know how to summarize your album! After all, you only have two pages, one at the front and one at the back, to explain what the entire album holds!

If cover pages have you stumped, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered! 😉 Here are three fail-proof ideas for creating amazing cover pages!

In Great Shape

3 Ideas for Scrapbook Cover Pages #ctmh #closetomyheart #scrapbooking #cover #page #scrapbook #memorykeeping #ideas #inspiration

Attach a large shape to the center of your base page. Then position your title and photos over this shape. Even if you have multiple photos (we have five here!), your page will still feel like a cover page because the large shape in the background creates a central focus. Pretty neat trick, right? 🙂

Easy As 1-2-3!

3 Ideas for Scrapbook Cover Pages #ctmh #closetomyheart #scrapbooking #cover #page #scrapbook #memorykeeping #ideas #inspiration

Simply attach three photos horizontally across the center of your page. Then add your title directly above or below these photos. Three is the key here! It’s a balanced number that draws the eye in.

Keep It Simple, Silly!

When all else fails, find a photo that sums up your album, and center it on your page along with a prominent title.

One fun spin on this approach is to center your photo but then place the title on the left side of your page, either vertically or horizontally!

Overall, the secret to creating a strong cover page is to draw the eye in to a central point with your pictures and title. If you keep that in mind, then you’re off to a great start!

And while you’re working on your cover pages, be sure to grab some albums because they’re on a great sale! For the month of June, you can buy one album and then get a second one at half price!

What album are you currently working on? Tell us in the comments below! 🙂

2 Fun Spins on the Classic Card

Looking for some cardmaking inspiration? We’ve got you covered! Today we’re sharing two awesome ideas to take your cards to the next level!

2 fun spins on your classic card #ctmh #closetomyheart #thankyou #folding #cardmaking

Up first is this card that opens in the middle, like a beautiful set of French doors 😉 . To create the base for this card, cut a piece of cardstock that is 4″ x 11″. Fold the ends in until they meet in the middle, about 2 ¾” from each end, and then add patterned paper to the inside and outside of the “flaps” for more personality.

You can also have a lot of fun with the outside of this card. We created two halves of a flower on the flaps, strung a cute sentiment on some twine like a tag, and tied it around the card so opening this card feels like opening a present!

If you’re feeling really adventurous, try making a pop-up card! There are a bunch of free tutorials on the internet. We modified this one from craftsy.com for our card.

Like our first card, we finished off the card by wrapping twine around it. This is an especially great idea for pop-up cards because it holds the card closed nicely.

Which of these two cards is your favorite? Tell us in the comments below! 🙂

Year >> Noted: Looking Back and Looking Forward

To wrap up this month of new beginnings, we’re providing you with one last dose of inspiration for your Year >> Noted paper kit. This kit is all about remembering the past and building plans for the future, so it works great for a multitude of occasions. The hardest part will be deciding what to capture!

In this post, we’re going to focus on the mini book component of the kit, which can be added on with the paper packet for an additional $5 with a qualifying purchase. The mini book is truly the finishing piece of this offer, so we want to show you a few things you can do with the cover!

Just like January does for the new year, the cover of your mini book marks the beginning of a journey and will set the tone for what the book holds. Here are two ideas for Year >> Noted mini book covers that set the right kind of tone for their contents.

1. Oh, baby! Document all of your little one’s first moments with gender-neutral colors that work great for both boys and girls. The stamp set is ideal for recording such highlights and adventures as first smiles, first words, or first steps. You could also include favorite foods or favorite bedtime rituals. Details like this always seem like they’ll be easy to remember but are actually all too easy to forget.

Take a little time to whip one up for your children, grandchildren, or for a friend’s children. It would make a meaningful baby shower gift—all you need to do is prepare the pages and then let the new parents fill in the memories!

2. Graduation is a time that inspires healthy introspection of the past and an almost overwhelming anticipation for the future! It’s full of both relishing nostalgia and trying to keep anxious thoughts in check. The Year >> Noted kit is the perfect place to preserve the turbulent emotions surrounding this landmark event. It’s just the thing to help your grad look back on the good times they’ve had as well as to look ahead to the good times yet to come.

You’ve got only a couple more days to purchase your own, so pick a up a few before they’re gone for good!
