Happy New Year everyone! To start things off in true Close To My Heart style, we’re ringing in 2019 with some flare of our own—a new Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog, filled with exceptional products, contemporary designs, and innovative ideas for all of your scrapbooking and cardmaking creative needs! We’ve rounded up just 10 of our favorite products below to give you a small sampling of the excitement we’ve got in store for the upcoming year as we celebrate 35 years of creativity in the papercrafting business. If you like what you see here, make sure to talk with your Consultant (or visit our site here) to feast on the contents of this commemorative catalog from cover to cover. We promise, you will not be disappointed! 😉

Cut-apart Sheets

Included in every one of our new suite paper packets will be two cut-apart sheets. One side will have a customary 12″x 12″ design while the other side will feature a variety of shapes and sentiments that coordinate with the specific paper collection it belongs to. As the name implies, you cut these shapes and sentiments apart with scissors and use them as titles and accent pieces for your pages and cards.

Kit Coordinated Picture My Life™ Cards

New and Exciting Products for the New Year #ctmh #closetomyheart #SE1 #seasonalexpressions #ideabook #papercrafting #cardmaking #scrapbooking #creating #diy #storytelling #memorykeeping #picturemylife #pocketcards #pocketscrapbooking #ctmhsomethingfierce

Also new to each paper collection is a coordinating set of Picture My Life™ cards. In the past, a new catalog came with two sets of Picture My Life™ cards whose color schemes would match two of the catalog’s paper suites. This time around, we are doing things a little bit differently. Instead of offering two sets of pocket cards in our new catalog, there are FOUR sets of Picture My Life™ cards. Each set corresponding to one of the paper collections not just in color but in theme as well. Including additional photos to your layouts and albums with our pocket Memory Protectors™ just got easier!

Embossing Folders

They’re baaack! We just can’t help playing with paper, and what a fun and easy way to do so with an embossing folder! Embossing folders make adding depth and texture to any of our papers a cinch! For your crafting arsenal, we have two new embossing folders, the Playful Scallops and Swiss Dot. Create some lasting impressions, as you get crafty with these new patterns!

Paper Pals

se1-stamps-paper-palsThere are a few new kids (and pets) in town and they’re all made out of paper! Say hello to the Paper Pal stamp and Thin Cuts! These are available as individual stamp sets: Paper Pal Base, Paper Pal Girl, Paper Pal Boy, and Paper Pal Pets, and also with coordinating Thin Cuts dies: Paper Pal Base Stamp + Thin Cuts, Paper Pal Girl Stamp + Thin Cuts, Paper Pal Boy Stamp + Thin Cuts, and Paper Pal Pets Stamp + Thin Cuts. And, better yet, if you like them all, get the Paper Pal Bundle, including all four stamp + Thin Cuts sets, and save over 10%!

Stitched Frames and Quilt Shapes

Thin-Cuts-stitched-frames-and-quilt-shapes

The Stitched Square Frames and Stitched Rectangle Frames Thin Cuts are an easy way to mat photos, journaling, and anything else you want to highlight in your art. Each of the dies included in the sets cuts two shapes: one stitched frame piece and a ½” smaller inside shape with stitching around its border. The Stitched Quilt Shapes Thin Cuts were designed to add stitched patterns and cut solid shapes that nestle perfectly inside the frames for effortless paper quilting!

Watercolor Die-cuts

watercolor-die-cuts

The Feels Like Home watercolor die-cuts are floral designs that come printed on two 6″ x 6″ watercolor papers. Add color using your favorite watercolor paints or pencils and then punch them out to embellish your artwork. These die-cuts coordinate with the Feels Like Home collection but, as you can see, they are customizable to other color schemes and your liking!

Story by Stacy™ Stories I Love

The Stories I Love workshop kit provides a place to gather the photos that mean the most to you and document the stories that go along with them! The included instructional workbook explains how to explore the memories behind the photos you treasure and then write a detailed story to capture all of the elements of that moment!

My Acrylix® Word Search Highlights

We can’t wrap this list up without showcasing at least a couple standalone stamp sets. The My Acrylix® Word Search Highlights stamp set is one of the many in the Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog that will brighten someone’s day. With a fun word search hiding sentiments for all sorts of occasions, you can quickly and easily create a fun and meaningful card.

My Acrylix® Love in Bloom

Another stamp set that is sure to catch your eye is the My Acrylix® Love in Bloom stamp set. The six stamps in the set are designed to layer on top of each other and form a single, beautiful image.

Designer Travel Shoulder Tote

Take all of your crafting supplies on the go with the newest member of our Designer Travel line, the stylish and durable Shoulder Tote! It features a zippered main compartment, one small interior pocket, and one large exterior zipper pocket.

Like we said at the very beginning of this post, these are just a few of the many products worth taking a look at in our new Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog. Make sure to contact your Consultant, or visit us here, to see what else 2019 holds in store!

May you have a wonderful and happy New Year!

Dear Future Self . . .

How are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions for 2016? If you could use some motivation now or think you might before the year is up, one thing to try is writing a letter to your future self, talking about the things that you hope to have done by the date of the letter! Have a look at this one:Get inspired to accomplish your goals by writing a letter to yourself! #closetomyheart #ctmh #everydaylife #mycrush

Our My Crush® Everyday Life pages are perfect for this job. Along with encouraging phrases and bold illustrations, the pages also include subtle patterns and colors, making them easy to write on and decorate!

So how exactly do you go about writing a letter to yourself? We have a few ideas. Start by jotting down a few lists about yourself—strengths, weaknesses, worries, past successes. Think about your past year and some challenges you’re likely to face this year. Then write your current self a note as if you were a kind and wise mentor trying to encourage a friend. As the year progresses and the hard times hit, you’ll be able to look back and get the help you need from you!

Once you’ve finished writing out your letter, feel free to dress it up with a few embellishments—may we recommend the Everyday Life™ Perfect Plan roller stamp and washi tape? They pair wonderfully with the My Crush pages. Then add the page to the front of your planner so you can reference it whenever you need a boost.

Your goals are worth working for, and you’re most likely to accomplish them if you have faith in yourself. Preserve that faith with a letter to yourself and shoot for the stars!

5 Tips for Achieving Your Goals This Year

It’s time to make New Year’s resolutions again! Are you making goals to spend more quality time crafting or to try new techniques? Maybe you’re already great at accomplishing the goals you set, but for those of us who could use a little extra help, here are five tips for goal-setting success:

1. Choose goals you can get excited about!

Accomplish your goals this year with our five tips! #ctmh #closetomyheart #ctmh #closetomyheart #newyears #goals #tips

Choose goals you’ll enjoy, like dancing instead of running.

It’s hard to commit to something that doesn’t inspire your passion, so make goals to do things you love! Even goals about things you know you should do can be fun. For instance, if you want to exercise more but hate running, join a dance class or go walking with your friends instead. You’re much more likely to stick to a goal that you enjoy!

2.Tell someone else about your goals.

Accomplish your goals this year with our five tips! #ctmh #closetomyheart #ctmh #closetomyheart #newyears #goals #tips

Share your goals with a friend who can help you succeed!

Whether it’s a spouse, parent, or friend, make sure someone else knows about the goals you’ve set. This will help you be accountable—you’ll want to be able to tell them how well you’re doing! Plus, your loved ones can also encourage you or even pitch in to help when the going gets tough. It’s also great to have someone who can congratulate you on your successes. That’s what friends and family are for!

3. Record your goals.

Accomplish your goals this year with our five tips! #ctmh #closetomyheart #ctmh #closetomyheart #newyears #goals #tips

Create a mini book to record your goals!

You’ve heard it said that a goal not written is only a wish. So create a beautiful spot to record your New Year’s resolutions that you’ll want to look at again and again! For example, our next post will give you some ideas for creative ways to write down your goals in an adorable mini goal book you can keep with you and reference throughout the day or week. Stay tuned for that post!

4. Track your progress.

Accomplish your goals this year with our five tips! #ctmh #closetomyheart #ctmh #closetomyheart #newyears #goals #tips

Use the Everyday Life™ planner system to track your progress!

It’s important to record your goals, but it’s also important to remind yourself each day to work toward them. That’s one reason we’ve created our planner system: to give you a place to track your goals and activities day by day! You’ll be able to use tools like our water goal stamp and bright stickers to see your progress. This will keep you focused and encourage you to stay hard at work!

5. Reward yourself for goal milestones!

Accomplish your goals this year with our five tips! #ctmh #closetomyheart #ctmh #closetomyheart #newyears #goals #tips

When you reach a goal milestone, give yourself a reward like the January Stamp of the Month!

When you’re busy or discouraged, the spa trip you promised yourself for achieving your goal will feel very far away. Instead of planning one big reward for completing your entire goal, set up several smaller rewards—like a new stamp set or an extra hour of crafting—for hitting milestones along the way. They’ll keep you motivated all along your journey!

Worthwhile goals are the path to self-improvement, and these tips will help you become your very best self. What do you hope to achieve in 2016? Share your goals in the comments so we can cheer for one another!

New Year’s Eve Favors

2016 is right around the corner, which means it’s time to party–and we have the perfect party favors you can make for your guests! They’ll even complement the Kaleidoscope party décor we shared a couple of weeks ago. Pull out your Cricut® and Kaleidoscope paper packet for this one, and get ready to create these lil’ show-stoppers:Make your New Year's Eve party a "blast" with these poppers! #ctmh #CloseToMyHeart #party #NewYear's

These will be the life of the party even before they’re opened! First, pick your favorite Kaleidoscope paper design. Bright colors and festive designs make Kaleidoscope an easy choice for this type of project.

Next, cut your Cricut® shape out of your chosen paper using the Artiste cartridge. The Artiste cartridge also comes with a handy instructional booklet that will show you how to fold it into its 3D shape!

Last, bling it up! Add some sparkle with glitter paper, shimmer trim, and sparkly embellishments!

As fun as these popper-like favors look on the outside, you can make them even MORE fun by putting surprises inside before sealing them shut. When your guests are ready, they can rip open an end to find a special treat—maybe a few pieces of candy, a “fortune” for the new year, or even a little toy! Just like that, you’ve got a fun, unique gift everyone will enjoy!

To finish off your popper, we’ve got an extra fun idea— confetti! Pull out your triangle border punch, and cut out pieces of Kaleidoscope paper, glitter paper, cardstock, or all of the above! The hole in each end of the popper is big enough that you can insert the confetti even after assembling the popper.

Pop on over to our Kaleidoscope party décor post to finish off your party plans, and enjoy creating these paper poppers! 🙂

Who’s up for a challenge?

Welcome to 2015! At Close To My Heart, we have some exciting things in the works for the upcoming year. Just as I do at the beginning of every year, I’ve set some new goals for myself and for our company. One goal I have for all of us is to find joy in creativity. As with any ongoing resolution, we all need a little extra motivation from time to time. So today I’m happy to announce Jeanette’s Creative Challenge! You’re invited to play along with me this year as we present weekly challenges to get your creative juices flowing.

Here’s how it’s going to go:

  1. Tune in to our Facebook and Instagram pages each Monday to learn what Jeanette’s Creative Challenge will be. Follow Close To My Heart on Facebook and Instagram so you can get the details pronto! When I announce the challenge, you’ll see a sample project as your inspiration and it will then be up to you to create and share your own creations.
  1. You have until the following Sunday at midnight to post a photo of your own interpretation of the challenge to either our Facebook page or your own Instagram feed. Be sure to use the hashtag #jrlcreativechallenge when you post. You can search this hashtag at any time to see what others have posted!
  1. What’s in it for you? This series is designed to inspire creative time and provide a place for unity and idea sharing each week. The challenge will give you a reason to get into your supplies on a regular basis for the sole purpose of having fun through crafting!
  1. Oh, and did I mention there will be prizes? We’ll choose one random winner each week to receive a prize for participating. I’ll announce the previous week’s winners every Monday on Facebook and Instagram, just before the new challenge announcement.
  1. Spread the word about this opportunity to anyone and everyone you know who loves creating, winning prizes, and a good challenge! The more people that get involved, the more fun it will be.

Sounds like a blast, right? Get those scissors sharpened for Monday, January 12, when I’ll post our first Weekly Creative Challenge!

Happy New Year!
