Usher in a New Season

Earlier this year we showed you how to use the Cricut® Flower Market Collection for a springtime monogram. Today we have some artwork that just goes to show that this truly is a collection for all seasons! Take a look at this beautiful wreath celebrating the upcoming fall!

Papercrafting Wreath #papercrafting #cricut #flowermarket #diy #CTHM #closetomyheart #fall #autumn #wreath #paperwreath

Starting with a simple grapevine wreath, we decorated our piece with paper flowers and leaves in stunning fall colors. (Picking our colors was easy—we just turned to our brand new fall-themed paper packets from the Holiday Expressions idea book, which is available for purchase as of September 1.)

When working with Cricut® shapes in your décor, add dimension and life by curling and bending petals and leaves. Add embellishments, like buttons and ribbons, for more textures, details, and volume.

With its changing leaves in rich hues of reds, oranges, and yellows, fall is by far the most colorful season of the year to draw inspiration from. Bring some of those glowing vibrant tones into your home by creating some of your own décor pieces—it’s all about where your creativity takes you!

Do-It-Yourself with the Cricut® Flower Market Collection

Spring is in full bloom and you’re itching for some new décor. Flowers and wreaths…designs that look bright, open, and airy… Instead of picking something up at the store, give your do-it-yourself prowess a try!Framed Monogram Wreath #ctmh #closetomyheart #monogram #wreath #neutral #diy #decor #Cricut #flowermarket #flower #rawwood #distressed #weathered #shabbychic #modernantique #antiquedThe framed monogram wreath we’re displaying today was made using our Cricut® Flower Market collection—ideal for springtime crafts! We set our wreath in a shadow box, but make your arrangement to suit your style and your space. Once you start working with the Flower Market collection, you might just find yourself branching out in your own direction! Instead of a wreath like ours, you might end up with a bouquet, or a smaller floral project. That’s the best part of DIY décor and our Cricut® collections—everything you make is customizable to your needs and liking! Choose how far your creativity will take you and start trimming with flowers that will last all season!

Before getting started, you have to select your colors. We chose neutral hues for our example décor to make it easy to add to any existing scheme. As you’re planning your project, also consider that using light and neutral color palettes can brighten up a room, making it feel more open and less cluttered.Wreath Up Close #ctmh #closetomyheart #wreath #monogrammedwreath #monogramwreath #monogram #neutral #antiqued #modernantique #shabbychic #distressed #distressingtechnique #diyOur wreath petals were made using White Daisy cardstock, our Champagne Exclusive Inks™ stamp pad, and a sponge.

If you’re a fan of the modern shabby chic style, we have a simple paper distressing technique that you have to try! Cut a small triangle out of your round sponge, ink it, and then dab off the excess ink on scrap paper (you want very little ink on your sponge). Now that your sponge is ready to go, rub the edges of the paper you are looking to distress and—ta-da!—you have paper leaves that are “weathered” and very chic!

DIY décor is definitely the way to go this spring and the Cricut® Flower Market collection is just bursting with ideas! Check out our Flower Market videos on YouTube for additional home décor suggestions and inspiration. Give them a try, experiment, and create wonderful things!

3 Unique Ways to Decorate Your Home with Paper Wreaths

There are only 6 more days to purchase our Welcome Home wreath kit, which includes pre-cut pieces and instructions to create a beautiful paper succulent wreath.

The great thing about this paper wreath, apart from being super affordable, is that it can work in your home all year round! Usually store-bought wreaths are season-specific, but this one adds beauty to any part of your home any time of year.

Today we want to share with you three unique ideas for decorating your home with this homemade wreath. Choose your favorite, or try them all throughout the year!

1. Hang It on an Old Window Frame

3 Unique Ways to Decorate Your Home with Paper Wreaths #succulentwreath #diywreath #paperwreath #crafting #diyhomedecor #homedecor #budget #ctmh #closetomyheart

If you love shabby chic, try hanging this wreath on a rustic window frame. You can place this window frame on an entry table or mantle and lean it against the wall, or you can just hang it up on any wall. Hang the wreath with some vintage-looking ribbons, like those in our Rustic Home ribbon pack, and you’ve got the perfect country look.

2. Add a Saying

3 Unique Ways to Decorate Your Home with Paper Wreaths #succulentwreath #diywreath #paperwreath #crafting #diyhomedecor #homedecor #budget #ctmh #closetomyheart

If you love those wooden plaques that say things like “home sweet home” or “live laugh love,” try adding these sayings to wreaths instead. Hang them on wreath hooks, vintage knobs, coat hooks, or just straight on the wall in a row.

3. Personalize School Pictures

3 Unique Ways to Decorate Your Home with Paper Wreaths #succulentwreath #diywreath #paperwreath #crafting #diyhomedecor #homedecor #budget #ctmh #closetomyheart

Hang a wreath above each kid’s school picture with his or her name. It’s a great way to personalize the standard school picture gallery in your home, and because these wreaths are so affordable, it’s totally reasonable to get one for each kid!

Trend Alert: Paper Plants Are IN!

Paper plant ideas #ctmh #closetomyheart #paper #diy #decor #home #succulent

As your best crafting bud, we’re here to give you the scoop on the latest trends in the crafting industry. One trend that’s been on the rise lately is paper plants—for your home, parties, and everything in between!

Let us show you what we mean…

Brittany Watson Jepsen of The House That Lars Built is basically the queen of paper plants. She does tons (and we mean TONS!) of paper plant and flower projects on her blog and YouTube channel. Here are 18 of her personal favorite paper plant tutorials.

In a similar fashion, Brit + Co, a media company that celebrates women and creativity, rounded up their top 12 favorite paper plant projects from different bloggers.

Today we want to show you some of our own paper plant creations! We love this trend (especially because it doesn’t make you feel like a bad plant parent), and we have a feeling it will really grow on you, too (Eh? Eh?). 😉

Paper plant ideas #ctmh #closetomyheart #paper #diy #decor #home #succulent

Look at these beauties! We cut the shapes using two of our Cricut® collections (see recipe at bottom of post), and then attached the finished leaves to wire with a hot glue gun. Add them to pots filled with paper crinkle, pebbles, etc, and voila! You’ve got three amazing plants that will live forever!

Paper plant ideas #ctmh #closetomyheart #paper #diy #decor #home #succulent

If making paper plants from scratch seems a bit overwhelming, or if you don’t own a Cricut® machine, we’ve got just the solution for you. Try out our Welcome Home wreath kit, which comes with all the pieces pre-cut AND instructions with step-by-step photos.

Did we mention it’s only $18.95 (US)? It can’t get much better than that—except that it does, because you can also get it FREE with a qualifying purchase!

The kit’s only available until the end of January though, so if it’s calling your name, get it before it’s gone!

Another fun idea is to play around with arranging paper plants and leaves in picture frames. By slightly bending the leaves here, these plants seem to be growing out of the picture frame.

What do you think of this trend? Yea or nay? Tell us in the comments below!

Ready to make your own paper garden? Then be sure to check out our Cricut® Flower Market collection! It’s filled with tons of flowers, plants, leaves, and other shapes that would be perfect for creating paper plants projects, like this wreath:
